To gain and keep a following on your small business Facebook page, you need to post entertaining content regularly.  People will tire of the same old stuff, leading to more unlikes than likes.  However, coming up with new ideas can be difficult, especially when you’re preoccupied with other business tasks.

The following “recipes” for creating quick, engaging posts will help get you out of your Facebook funk and keep your followers engaged – which gets you more likes and more shares – for free.

Pose a Problem and Ask for a Solution

To get people commenting, post a problem and then ask your followers for help.  People genuinely enjoy helping to solve problems and you’ll see this clearly in the comment section.  Get creative with your problems. For example, if you sell clothing, pose questions such as “How to get red wine out of a silk dress?” Or “It is ok in this era to wear white to a wedding?”

If you offer a service such as landscaping, pose a question such as, “What’s the best way to keep slugs out of the garden?” Or you can change it up and simply ask questions that get readers interacting, like”What’s the easiest vegetable for you to grow and why?”

Have a ContestClick for Details on Social Media Management from Solutions Digital Marketing

By giving away free stuff on Facebook via a contest, you’re sure to see a spike in users’ interaction.  People love entering contests and will typically do so as long as it’s easy to enter and doesn’t come with a catch.

A simple way to run a Facebook contest is to have users comment on the post to enter the contest.  After that, you can put everybody’s name in a hat and the winner gets a free item or service and you get more publicity by posting the winner on your page.

Make People Laugh

Creating posts that are light and humorous will establish the emotional connection you want customers to have.  By associating a happy feeling with your product or service, you’re one step closer to branding your small business.  Use posts that play on words, crack jokes and make people laugh.  Dominos is good example of this. Their  Facebook Page light-humored and turns pizza into art.  https://www.facebook.com/Dominos/
